During Tet Festival, Quang Ngai leaders paid gift-visits to thousands of policy families throughout the province and distributed 2000 tons of rice as well as necessities to the poor.

Quang Ngai government also granted gifts from the State President to 45,845 the poor and policy families in the province with total amount of 9.67 billion VND.

Chairman Nguyen Xuan Hue highly appreciated provincial and district authorities’ joint-efforts in ensuring safety and security during the Tet Holiday. Various traditional festivals were organized successfully. This year, Quang Ngai attracted a skyrocket number of tourists with 4000 domestic visitors and 215 overseas Vietnamese.

He also expressed his unpleasantness for traffic accidents, which killed at least 7 and injured 9 with 6 days.

He praised relevant Department and Agencies took positive measures to stabilize the domestic markets before, during and after the traditional festival. The supply of goods was secured without sudden price hikes. The regulations on food hygiene safety were enforced.

As a briefing by Department of Industry and Commerce goes, during Tet Holiday, some large-scale plants in Dung Quat Economic Zone, i.e the Vietnam’s first 148-bpd Refinery, Dung Quat Shipyard, Doosan Vina steel complex, ect were still switched on high speed of production. It released that industry processing in January was valued at 958 billion VND, a y-o-y increase of 219%.

Closing the meeting, Chairman Hue requested agencies and partners to manage to realize those plans set forth for the year 2010.
