Two documents testifying to Viet Nam's ownership of Hoang Sa (Paracel) Archipelago were handed over to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the People's Committee of Thua Thien-Hue Province on Monday.

One document was a petition submitted to King Bao Dai 71 years ago by his office to ask for the king's favour to confer a medal to a captain of the Hoang Sa garrison. The petition was approved and signed by the king with red seal.

The other document was a verdict filed 250 years ago by a governor of Tu Hien Estuary in Hue to settle a dispute between My Toan and Vinh My villages over which villages paid taxes relating to a boat of the Hoang Sa Fleet.
