Mr. Cao Thanh Dong, General-Director of Dung Quat Shipbuilding Industry Company, a member of VINASHIN (Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group) has recently said that the company planed to launch 104,000 DWT Oil Tanker in March and hand over it to investor (VINASHIN OCEAN SHIPPING COMPANY Ltd) in Q3, 2010.
The first ever largest vessel in Vietnam worth US$ 56 million is designed to be 245 m long, 43 m wide and 20 m high with main engine of Man/B&W 6S60 MC-C, cargo hold capacity of 120,900m3 and output of 12,200 KW, 95rpm.
The General Director Cao Thanh Dong said the construction, in 2009 affected by the global economic crisis and the typhoon Ketsana (an estimated toll of 200 billion VND), faced a long-time delay and the progress, he added, has been kicked off by almost 3000 workers, engineers in three shifts per day.
So far, the company has basically completed ship cover and 70% of equipment installation.
By the time, the member of Vinashin in Dung Quat Economic Zone, has been speeded up construction of the 105,000 DWT Oil Tanker for Petro Vietnam. It, as singed, is to be launched by the end of the year 2010 and hand over to investor in March 2011.
The company has also speeded up upgrading facilities and improved staff capacity in line with international standards.
Mr. Dong said that Dung Quat Shipyard in 2009 stood up in the global economic crisis, the company’s total output valued at 1,090 billion VND (equal to 101% of the year plan), annual income reached 2.6 million VND per person.
In 2010, the company strives to achieve the planned total output values of over 1,315 billion VND, total revenue reaches 1,147 billion VND and creates jobs for nearly 2,300 employees.
