The First Ethnic Minority Representative Congress (EMRC) in Quang Ngai is to start on 16 December 2009, a source from Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee said yesterday.
There will be 450 delegates in the three-day Congress, the source said.
The event aims at strengthening further cooperation of provincial ethnic minority groups; Ca Dong (15,485 people), Hre (113,381 people), Cor (26,758 people) and others (455 people), according to provincial census 2007.
Quang Ngai Provincial EMRC will be an important socio-political event, underlining that Vietnam is a unified nation comprising many ethnic groups who stand by each other in national construction and defence.
As planned, Provincial EMRC will choose Quang Ngai Representatives to participate in the National Congress of Representatives of Ethnic Minority Groups in Vietnam to be held in Ha Noi by May 2010.
Earlier, the six upland districts of Son Ha, Tra Bong, Minh Long, Ba To, Son Tay and Tay Tra successfully organized district-lever-EMRC
