Provincial Vice-Chairman Le Quang Thich has just received representatives from the JFE Steel group, a leading steel maker in Japan, who is interested in building a steel complex in Dung Quat Economic Zone, Quang Ngai province.
JFE plans to build a 5 billion USD, six to ten-million-ton-steel-per-year-mill, which will be applied advanced technologies to consume energy economically and be environmentally-friendly, the partners said.
The complex is expected to employ between 2,000 to 3,000 workers, two thirds of them engineers and skilled workers, they added.
Reportedly, JFE has been making pre-feasibility study report for approval from Vietnamese Government to incorporate the project into the country’s steel development vision.
Meeting with provincial authorities, guests specially concerns on detail information related to environment, geology, electricity and plan to enlarge Dung Quat site in the future.
Vice-Chairman Le Quang Thich highly appreciated the JFE Steel group’s efforts in developing project in this central province and said to closely corporate with them to complete pre-feasibility study report soon.
Leader Thich also asked JFE to soon submit pre-feasibility study report to Quang Ngai Government, who will send the report to Ministry of Industry and Commerce late June 2009.
