Sanitation Hygiene and Water Improvement Project has been developed in 16 communes of 3 districts Nghia Hanh, Tu Nghia and Son Tinh, Quang Ngai province.
The project is said to be financed by Plan International with total fund of US$ 1,396.151, of which $ 226,000 is Quang Ngai’s corresponding fund.
As the project’s plan goes, 10,000 household sanitation constructions and 2000 clean water supply systems are scheduled from May 2006 to October 2010.
The Project Management Board (PMB) recently reported in the first financial year (June 2006-07) 1,797/1,993 water & sanitation constructions and 5 school W.Cs had been built with total cost of 4.2 billion dong.
In the second fiscal year (June 2007-08), some non-construction works such as, workshops, consultant, training, and on-site support were specially focused by Quang Ngai-based Plan International. Moreover, in the time, over 5 billion dong had been spent on building 1,289/2,570 household hygiene constructions and 8 kindergarten toilets.
As released by PMB, they have co-operated with the donor to work out activity plan for the third fiscal year and kicked off completing delayed-construction works. Reportedly, 4.5 billion dong is to be allocated for the third year from June 2008-09.
