Quang Ngai Leader Nguyen Xuan Hue has officially requested Dung Quat Authority to finalize its expansion proposal no later than 31 July 2008 to be submitted to Vietnam’s Prime Minister for approval, a source from Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee Office said.
Expansion Proposal for Dung Quat Economic Zone has been driven by authentic need of foreign investors in large-sized projects which are also “land-intensive”.
As the proposal goes, existing 10,300-ha DQEZ shall be expanded to the south to raise its total land area up to 50,000 ha, spreading out to cover Binh Son, Son Tinh and offshore island of Ly Son, large enough to embrace some USD 30 billion from investors by the year 2025.
