Quang Ngai Provincial Government top leader Nguyen Xuan Hue (Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial people’s Committee) has just requested his longer arms to harden the detemination to cut public spending in an effort to curb the soaring inflation in the context of economic stagnancy.
Chairman Hue also called for belt tightening throughout the province, with special focus on government staff in all-level bodies via specific measures such as economizing on fuel, energy, telephoning, stationery, water, and other resources.
With more drastic measures to be taken, Chairman Hue hoped his government would cut down daily expenses by 10%.
He reiterated his superior’s strong request (Prime Minister’s) on cracking down on the nation’s gallop inflation that provincial departments should reduce and minimize frivolous and money-consuming activities, including unnecessary meetings or conferences, ceremonies, and abroad trips.
Procurement costly property and construction of offices for government bodies should also be suspended in 2008.
