In a meeting recently held by Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee, party top leader Pham Dinh Khoi requested provincial relevant bodies to closely scrutinize the the good and harm of using farmland for industrial development purposes, warning a possible waste of agricultural land in the context world food security at risk.
Industrial development has been viewed by Quang Ngai Government over the past recent years as key factor to provide a launching pad for this agriculture-based to take off.
In line with the said policy, large areas of agrable land have been displaced by industrial clusters and trade villages in districts across the province. Most of the shiftings are reported to have been working in an effective manner.
However, a careful review to avoid farmland waste is needed in the context of world food crisis, emphasized Khoi.
