The fire broke out some time around 23.30 of 30 June 2008 in Chao O Market, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai, burning down almost everything in the market.
Damages to property, mainly goods stored in place for sale, were roughly estimated at dozens of VND billion.
The provincial fire fighting forces were called for help as soon as the fire was detected, yet the fighting seemed not much effective as there were too much inflamable goods inside the market at the time of fire.
The fire fighters, with two fire engines reinforced by the neibouring province of Quang Nam, could not control the fire until 03.00 the following day. What they could do was just prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring shops and surrounding residential areas.
Fortunately, there was no loss and casualy of human lives.
The cause of the fire has now been under investigation by the local authorities.
