Quang Ngai built 17,000 houses for the poor, yet another 13,000 still needed |
Quang Ngai’s poverty rate by June 2008 is said to have decreased to 22.73% from 31.94% in 2006, i.e, some 17,000 households have escaped poverty, reported by Dept. of Labour, Invalid and social Affairs (DoLISA) in a Workshop recently held on reviewing Poverty Reduction Program and Project of Building Houses for The Poor.
As released by Cao Ba Chien, Director of DoLISA within two years 2006-08 Quang Ngai Government has built over 17,000 new houses for the poor, yet another 13,000 still needed.
Quang Ngai, as targeted to reduce the poverty rate down to 20% by 2010, has since 2006 carried out some affective programs for the poor, such as providing preferential loans for 35,000 poor people, which they have used their loan money in so effective a way that paves their road out of poverty state, granting 230 ha producing land for 800 ethnic minority households; offering free of change job training for 1,500 the poor.
