Tu Nghia District People’s Committee in collaboration with Department of Forest Protection (DFP) and Fire Department recently conducted a forest fire combating exercise by performing a series of actions, movements, and tasks as a way of practicing and improving the fire fighting capability.
The exercise was performed on the basis of an imagined forest fire taking place in the forest area near Phu Thuan Tay Hamlet, Nghia Thuan Commune, Tu Nghia District.
The supposed fire was detected and put out via three different scenarios corresponding to 3 levels of fire. And the maneuver was successfully carried out, achieving the targets set forth, making it an important practice to either enhance the alertness and skill among the fire fighters and common people.
According the statistics released by DFP, there have been throughout the province 143 areas at risk, where humidity and coverage are low, and people practice slash and burn cultivation habits. The risk of wildfire in these areas has reached levels 3 to 4, which anticipates likely wildland fires of some kinds in the upcoming time as the dry season is approaching nearer.
Localities which are most likely to be prone to wildfire include Ba To, Son Ha, Tra Bong, Minh Long, Tay Tra and Son Tay, all are mountainous districts
