The Authorities of Quang Ngai’s mountainous district of Son Ha have been facing challeges in dealing with the sabotage of signposts erected alongside the road systems across the district.
Hundreds of signposts by the district’s roadsides have been so far since 2007 smashed into pieces for the reinforced steel inside to be sold as scraps. The nature and severity of the sabotage have been since early this year escalating. Instead of destroying those signposts in the remote areas, the ones in densely populated areas have been now also sabotaged, defying the local authorities.
The sabotage has been seriously threathening the safety of the traffic, as these signposts built to provide directions and other information necessary for the road users.
Reportedly, it cost over VND 100,000 to build a road signpost.
