Dung Quat Refinery Project Management Board has today 17 June 2008 conducted Acceptance Ceremony of the EPC Package 5A (the Breakwater), the first of 7 EPC Packages of DQR to be completed.
The Breakwater, designed and constructed 1.6 km long, 8-10m high, and 10-11m wide at the top surface, commenced its construction in October 2008 by the Netherlands-owned Contractor Van Oord.
This USD 100 million work, covered by wave-breaking strutures in the form of accropode, shall protect the port basin from waves to safeguard the vessels loading and unloading inside the port.
The Breakwater has been completed some 5 months ahead schedule.
