Quang Ngai Provincial Government has just given approval in principle on processing investment formalities for 4 hydropower projects to be constructed in different river systems upland of the province.
The largest of the 4 said hydropower projects is proposed to be constructed on Dak Ba River of the province’s Son Bua Commune, Son Tay District with estimated capital of some VND 400 billion and designed capacity of 19.5MW.
The other 3 projects are projected to be built on the rivers of Dak Dring (Son Mua, Son Tay), Nuoc Lac (Long Mon, Minh Long) and Suoi Kem (Tra Xinh, Tra Bong) with their respective designed capacities and invested capitals of 10.5MW and VND 175 billion, 3.5MW and VND 70 billion, and 1.5MW and VND 40 billion.
Quang Ngai in recent years has been growing fast with a focus on development of heavy industries notably marked by the country’s first ever oil refinery and petrochemicals in Dung Quat, thus its need for power is on the increase.
