Vietnam Prime Minister has yesterday 13 May 2008 approved the expanded planning for Da Nang Airport (Da Nang City) and Chu Lai Airport which lies betwwen the two Vietnam’s biggest economic spaces of Chu Lai Open Economic Zone (Quang Nam Province) and Dung Quat Economic Zone (Quang Ngai Province).
According to the approved planning, Da Nang International Airport shall be upgarded to consist of 21 aprons by the year 2015 and that of 27 by 2025; meanwhile the corresponding figures for Chu Lai shall be 25 and 46, respectively.
As the passenger facilities are concerned, Da Nang Airport shall have an international passenger terminal with capacity of 4 million per year, and that capacity of Chu Lai Airport in the same period shall be 2.2 million. And by 2015, Chu Lai shall have more passenger terminal buildings to raise the capacity upto over 4 million passengers a year.
As regards cargo transportation, the cargo capacity for Da Nang Airport by 2015 shall be 80,000 tonne per year, and be raised to 200,000 tonne by 2025, whereas the figures for Chu Lai in term of cargo shall be much greater, with 1.5 million tonne and 5 million tonne per year repectively.
A fund of some VND 4,500 billion shall be required to realize the approved planning for Da Nang Airport, and that of over VND 11,400 billion for Chu Lai Airport.
