Tuoi tre Newspaper, one of the most widely-read newspapers in Vietnam, has just given some VND 1.27 billion to support Quang Ngai poor and disadvantaged schoolchildren in the academic year 2008-2009.
Part of the said money is proposed to make 80 VND-4-million scholarships to be granted to the poor schoolchildren in the province’s 3 mountainous districts of Son Ha, Son Tay, and Tay Tra who shall go to university or college in the upcoming time.
And the rest of the fund shall be used to support those students (junior high school students and high school) who have dropped out due to their economic difficulties and encourage them to come back to school.
Quang Ngai, in this academic year, has become one among the provinces where there high number of drop-outs: over 4,000 students in all.
