On 5 April 2008 a ceremony to launch Blood Donation Campaign 2008 was officially held in Quang Ngai City prior to a procession of over 440 youths along the main streets in the city calling for humanitarian blood donation among the public.
Officials from the Provincial Government and other departments across the province also attended the ceremony and took part in the motorcade.
In 2007, some 2,200 blood units had been donated, meeting about 59% of the patients’ need for blood.
Earlier, Quang Ngai Blood Donation Steering Committee, headed by the province’s Vice Chairman Nguyen Hoang Son, was set up to promote the donation. And the campaign this year expected to have sufficient blood for medicare purposes in the province.
