Quang Ngai Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has just decided to set up a Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) Task Force directly led by the Director of the Animal Health Department of the province.
The task force’s role is to function as a quick reaction team to deal with all issues arising during the compaign against the epidemic. It is planned to conduct intensive checks in the pig-raising farms cross the province to timely spot early signs of the outbreak; it also provides close supervision over the possible wrongdoings in either concealing the disease or trading and transporting the diseased pigs.
PRRS is reported to be badly attacking the coastal provinces of Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Da Nang and Binh Dinh, killing over a thousand pigs and making ill dozens of thousand.
