The US-based Altera group on June 4 announced it would establish a technology centre in HCM City to support its global chipset development network. This is part of Altera’s strategy to develop its international contingent of engineers.
Udi Landen, Altera’s Vice Chairman in charge of IP engineering, said that apart from recruiting engineers for this centre, Altera would closely work with Vietnamese universities to teach Vietnamese students about the latest technologyon programmable chip.
HCM City-based research institutes in HCM City highly praise the establishment of this centre. According to Dr. Vu Dinh Thanh, Head of the Electrics-Electronics Faculty of the HCM City University of Technology, this will be a new step of development for the technology market of HCM City.
“Altera is the pioneer in the programmable chip. The cooperation between the group and our centre will benefit both and the technology sector of Vietnam,” said Dr. Nguyen Thanh Nam, Director of the Chipset Research and Design Training Centre of the HCM City-based National University.
