The baby was born by caesarean |
Doctors at the Da Nang Hospital have helped a woman successfully give birth to a 6.5 kg baby girl, the heaviest baby born at the hospital so far.
The baby was born by caesarean as her mother, 32-year-old Vo Thi Hong Phuong in Son Tra district of central coastal Da Nang city, suffered from HELLP syndrome, a severe variant of pre-eclampsia.
Both the mother and newborn baby are in good health after a 45-minute operation, said the doctors.
This is the woman's third delivery with her previous babies weighed 3.8kg and 4.2 kg at birth.
Earlier, a 6kg baby was born by caesarean at the Trung Vuong hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.
