Over 1,000 additional policemen mobilised for APEC (10/11/2006)

 

The Ministry of Public Security on Thursday, November 9, said it would deploy more than 1,000 additional policemen from the special mission and mobile police forces to ensure security during the 14th APEC Summit.

 

Of the number, 500 policemen from the Police Department for Protection and Judicial Police will be under the management of the Director of the Hanoi Police Agency for 25 days (as of November 1).

 

The remaining policemen will be in charge of ensuring security for the APEC meetings from November 11-20.

 

To ensure traffic safety and prevent traffic jams during the APEC summit, the Road and Railway Police Agency has sent over 100 policemen to the Hanoi Police Agency.

 

Twenty five other provincial and municipal transport agencies have also sent policemen to Hanoi for the APEC meetings.
