Yesterdays, 22 October, 2006 high-level Vietnamese delegation led by PM Nguyen Tan Dung arrived in Ha Noi successfully concluding his official 5-day- visit to Japan.
During the visit, Vietnam and Japan reached great achievements agreeing to develop their friendly and cooperative relations into the strategic partnership for prosperity of the two nations as well as for peace, stability and development in the region and the world, to begin negotiations on the Vietnam-Japan Free Trade Agreement soon and speed up the implementation of the second phase of the Vietnam-Japan Joint Initiative to improve Vietnam’s investment environment, to raise two-way tra
de value to US$15 billion by 2010 from the current US$8.5 billion, to boost tourism cooperation and establish bilateral cultural forums to cement the spiritual foundation in the friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam and Japan, said VOV.
As a source from Viet Nam News goes, after 5 day-visit to Japan, Viet Nam reached some multi- million USD projects such as building an electronic factory worth US$300 million between the Ha Tay Joint Stock Co and MEIKO Electronic; a high-tech electronics plant worth $110 million between the Viet Nam Investment and Development Group and the VMC Electronics Co.
Among 7,000 foreign enterprises operating in Viet Nam, 700 are from Japan with a total investment of about VND7 billion, said VNS.
