The Government on Saturday held a conference launching the implementation of the Party Politbureau's resolution on socio-economic development, national defence and security in the central region from now to 2010.
In its resolution, the Politbureau stressed the need to fully tap all resources inside and outside the country, as well as the potential and advantages of each province and the whole region in order to develop regional economy at a faster rate than the national average. It focused on boosting the cooperation between the central region and the Central Highlands as well as key economic regions and foreign countries.
Restructuring businesses and forest farms for higher operational efficiency, and developing the private and foreign-invested sectors are other solutions.
The Polibureau identified a combination of economic development and resolution of social issues as necessary for the improvement in living conditions for local people, especially those in poor and natural calamity-prone areas. It set the task to make fundamental changes in human resources development and enhance people's knowledge. National defence and ecological environment protection are also highlighted together with socio-economic development
