The Prime Minister has issued a decision covering preferential policies for poor ethnic minority people.
Accordingly, each poor ethnic minority household will be allocated at least 200sq.m of land for housing, 0.5ha of hill space or 0.25ha of field, timber or VND5mil to a build house, and 0.5 tonnes of cement to build a water tank.
The decision says that provincial People’s Committees can grant more land to poor ethnic minority households based on their actual land fund. The State will later set a specific policy to support needy Khmer people in the Mekong Delta.
For families living in slums, the State will provide VND5mil or timber to build a house. In addition, they can receive more funds from local authorities.
Poor ethnic minority households in mountainous and remote areas will receive 0.5 tonnes of cement each to build water tanks or VND300,000 to sink wells.
