In recent years, Quangngai has witnessed enormous strides in the area of foreign economic relations: one project has been put into operation, two are now well under way, three are in the procedural stage for investment. In addition, ODA and NGO projects are well and effectively implemented in the province. The local government has issued preferential policies calling for investment. The provincial export turnover is on the increase, many provincially- made commodities are on sale the world over.

The areas of trade and tourism are also in the period of progression, adapting to the market economy mechanism.

The total retail value of commodities and services have mounted up to 1,940.7 billion VND in 2000 in comparison with that of 179.3 billion VND in 1990, an annual average increase of 9%.

A new series of hotels have been mushrooming over the provincial town three out of which are of 3-star standard.

      Finance and banking activities have been promoted to the extent for the need of the whole society, especially in the area of investment.
