Quang Ngai: the land and the people

Situated in the pivotal economic area of the Central Vietnam, right on the National Highway 1A and the Trans-Viet Railway, connected with the Central Highland by the Access Road 24A, Quangngai - a coastal province of 130Km coastline with two large seaports of Dungquat and Saky - have proved themselves places favourable for communication and development.

Quangngai extends over 5,131.5 square kilometres, from Quangnam in the North to Binhdinh in the South and Kontum in the West to the South China Sea in the East. Such geographical situation makes Quangngai a place enriched in natural resources and renowned for the splendour and poetry of its natural scenery. Quangngai is well-known for archaeological finds of Sahuynh cultural vestiges dated back to 2500-3000 years from now and traces of Champ culture of different times. It is also reputed as a place full of historic sites closely connected with the two Wars of Resistance against French and American aggressors, respectively, such as Bato, Bagia, Vantuong, Sonmy, etc.

Quangngai is the shared homeland cohabited by the Kinh people and three other fraternal ethnic groups: Hore, Kor, and Kadong, who always stand side by side for the sake of mutual interest and progress.

It is the harmony of natural features: moutains, rivers, sea that has brought Quanngai the reputation for its landscapes, especially the 12 famous beauty spots for which many generations of poets and writers has found themselves almost unable to find compatible words of praise. With its numerous famous sceneries and historic sites such as Mykhe, Sahuynh, Minhtan, Vantuong, Khehai, Dungquat, Quangngai is an important tourist attraction.

In addition, Quangngai is also the place of such famous specialties as transparrent candy, lung-shaped suger bar, malt, anchovy, flouder, Nien fish, Don, suger-cane bird, etc.
